A Look Back at the Weird and Wonderful World of the General Store in 2020

December 2020

With no Saxapahaw Holiday Market this year, we were happy to host local artists at the General Store. Shop local and support local artistans! This jewelry from Arachne Weavings is still available at the store if you want to get yourself a post-Christmas gift!
We saw and heard so much this year about nature returning to areas that it had been pushed out of, and that seemed to be true in Saxapahaw as we spotted a pair of bald eagles circling overhead.
Locally grown collards in abundance!
Our fourth Saxapahaw General Store baby was born in December to Crystal and Matt Valentin. Welcome to the world, Aubrey Grace!
Lauren and baby Lena and Maddie and baby Murphy meet and hang out at the store. What a year for babies this has been!
We’ve got high quality locally made specialty chocolates all year round, but when you’re looking for something special to stuff stockings, look no further than Saxapahaw.
On the night of the Winter Solstice on December 21st, the world got a Jupiter-Saturn conjunction in the sky, and one of our locals got a photo of this celestial event over the store. It was a much-needed moment of unity, and of awe and order in the universe.
When you end up having too many M&M cookies delivered from Ninth Street Bakery, make M&M chocolate peanut butter cheesecake!
Amber and Kevin looking and feeling festive for the holiday season!
And we ended the year with our annual Brunch Extravaganza, with new brunch specials every week, like this French toast stack with cranberry cream cheese.
And mimosas! What goes better with brunch than mimosas? Made with organic, all-natural orange juice and prosecco, these things are the bee’s knees!
