A Look Back at the Weird and Wonderful World of the General Store in 2020

July 2020

Maddie and Jake not only grew a baby in 2020, they also grew their farm, Eat Dirt Farm, and provided us with plenty of amazing locally grown food.
A customer posted this photo of their ham, egg and cheese biscuit, with ham from Machaven Farm, to social media, calling it “the best biscuit sandwich” they’ve ever had. Can’t really disagree with that…
Katie takes a break from unpacking boxes for grocery, looking as cool as ever.
Some more great stickers we got this year were these Flora of NC stickers from Papermill Creative in Durham. We still have these in stock, because they’re by far the most popular locally made stickers we’ve ever had.
Summer is the perfect time for climbing trees…
…And staying hydrated…
When the temperatures rise, Reddy Ice is on speed dial to keep our ice freezer fully stocked.
And a HUGE thanks to our community for being so responsive to a changing world, and for helping to keep everyone safe and healthy. In a global pandemic, it takes everyone to stop the spread, and you guys are the best.
Not nearly as packed as a regular summer, but we still made it through.
We were gifted by a customer, this laminated display copy of the time that the Saxapahaw General Store appeared in the New York Times in 2012.
Love it when the sun doesn’t go down until almost 9 pm.
