A Look Back at the Weird and Wonderful World of the General Store in 2020

2020, what a year, right? A lot of people were expecting some craziness because it was an election year, but 2020 far exceeded our expectations, with the word “unprecedented” becoming a regular every day, every week thing. In a close-knit village like Saxapahaw that thrives on in-person community activity, we all had to make drastic changes in how we socialized, how we went about our day-to-day activities and how we had to conduct business. So with no further ado, let’s take a look back at the Saxapahaw General Store in 2020!

In 2020, Kevin introduced the Mystery Six Pack. Six mystery beers for just $9.99, and some of them even included mystery snacks!
Biscuits on their way into the oven for a new year of breakfast and brunch!

A young shopper fills his cart with snacks. Kids love our little toddler sized carts to help their parents find healthy groceries for the whole family!
Remember the long communal table? People elbow to elbow, laughing, eating, drinking, celebrating and having fun? That didn’t last long into 2020.
Nic prepares some water glasses for our last big wedding catering of the year…
Little did anyone know, this would be one of the last times in 2020 that weekday afternoons meant a patio full of Hawbridge students waiting to be picked up after school. The rest of the 2020 school year was to be entirely remote.
Also with the normal January downtime, Orin and Katie finally got around to redoing the chalkboards behind the coffee counter.
