The General Store 2021 Rewind: Up, Down, Left, Right and Back Around Again

There’s always people canoeing and kayaking on the Haw River throughout most of the year, but in spring and summer, they come out in bunches.
Like a true Jedi Biermiester, Keven spent May the 4th keeping his beersaber skills sharp.
Breakfast is always better when it’s made with love, like our breakfast sandwiches on Amber’s house-made biscuits.
And so is dinner, like these pan-seared scallops over creamy bacon succotash. One of the best!
When it’s time to start planting your garden, our friends at Machaven Farm are always here every spring with beautiful herb and vegetable starts.
In early May, hackers hit the Colonial Pipeline with a ransomware attack that left most of the east coast without gas for about a week or more, and this was felt even as far away as Saxapahaw, where we were out for almost 2 weeks. This gas truck pulling up was enough to make us jump for joy.
There was no longer a statewide mask mandate as covid cases started dropping dramatically, but we were still cautious.
Because corona was still being pretty extra, and showing that it wasn’t disappearing any time soon.
Mother’s Day is perfect for flowers, locally grown strawberries and Mother’s Day brunch.
So many flowers! How far away is spring again?

Keep moving forward to see June 2021
