One of the cyclical things about the General Store is we get to work with some amazing people in the spring and summer, and then when fall rolls back around, we have to say goodbye when they return to school. Callum is always welcome back whenever he needs a summer job!
With locally raised chicken from Little Way Farm, we were able to offer our incredible chicken wings more than just once a year, and there was much rejoicing in the land.
You might try those wings (or anything else) with some Himihead Hot Sauce, made by Jackie Headen, who had to stock up on her favorite chips while she was here stocking us up on hot sauce.
A little cooler weather means the beginning of Saxapahaw softball, which requires Big League Chew and beverages. There are no regular teams, no score, just lots of community fun!

And as we get closer to fall, the days start getting shorter, little by little.

To meet the scheduling demands of 2021, some of our front of house team, such as Kevin and Gabbi, trained for the kitchen, to be able to jump in and help out when needed, because that’s what friends do.
I mean really… friendship is all over this place. In a small community full of artists, farmers, musicians and creators, we all pitch in. It’s been a rough couple of years, but we’re here for each other.
And you know fall is finally here when we start getting a ton of fall and Oktoberfest beer. It’s like Christmas, but for beer.
And pumpkins! So many pumpkins!
