A Look Back at the Weird and Wonderful World of the General Store in 2020

June 2020

When summer hit, our friends at Ran-Lew Dairy unveiled their brand new gelato, and it became an instant hit!
Bruce uses a tape measure to help us visualize the safe six foot social distancing distance.
Local resilience was a theme for 2020, and so we created a couple exclusive stickers for customers to show their love for NC farmers as well as their resilience in the face of hardship.
Ginny Boyer’s son (of Sprout Farm) patiently waits his turn in line, six feet away and wearing a mask.
I still don’t know whose car this is…I haven’t seen it before or since, but its artistry was so Saxapahaw, it was picture worthy.
Kevin showing off some of the new beers for summer. Any time you’re in the store and you see Kevin, he’ll be happy to give you his expert opinion on a new beer to try.
Saxapahaw often wears its heart on its sleeve, and 2020 was no different, with Haw River Farmhouse Ales coming out with a number of limited time and timely brews that reflected the world around us.
Summer is always a time of abundance, and moreso in a rural farming community like Saxapahaw. All summer we’re getting fresh local produce from farms large and small across Alamance County.
And it’s not just vegetable abundance– Machaven Farm brought us a bunch of pork belly, and with it, we made this absolutely amazing pork belly sandwich. There really is no substitute for eating local.
Oh, and those summer sunsets…this one in particular was so beautiful, it became the background image for the homepage header.
In June, Maddie and Jake announced that Maddie was pregnant with their first child!
