A Look Back at the Weird and Wonderful World of the General Store in 2020 February 2020 With craft beers from all over the US and from around the world, when the Super Bowl came down to San Francisco vs Kansas City, we were prepared! Kitchen team member Steven and his girlfriend Stephanie (also a former SGS team member) welcomed the first of FOUR General Store babies into the world in Februrary. Four babies! Local farmer Tiffanie Jackson of Machaven Farm was the first in our “Meet Your Local Farm” series, in which she came to the store, talked about herself and her farm, local agriculture and more. It was going to be a monthly thing…and then covid hit in March, so… Just a lovely photo of our fried catfish sandwich, one of our all day lunch favorites! More fun and birthday parties at the communal table. We’ll get back to those days hopefully in 2021. We see a lot of dogs at the General Store, but this pair were probably the biggest beasts ever out on the patio. For Valentine’s Day, Fireside Farm made these beautiful dried flower bouquets, and local entrepreneur Christine Clifton was one of the first to pick one up! When your dad runs the Saxapahaw General Store, sometimes people just give you antlers as gifts. Sycamore Brewing came and did our last in-person beer tasting before coronavirus hit. Brack posing with some appetizers for a catering event. Even as events became smaller in 2020, we still kept catering at a smaller scale. It snowed one time in Saxapahaw in 2020, near the end of February. Even a little bit of snow is a wonderful sight. Click on “Page 3” or the next arrow below to revisit March 2020!
